utility vehicles
About the unit
This unit delivers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake work using a side by side utility vehicle used for general transport, carrying loads, towing small trailers and mustering stock.
The unit includes the following:

Prepare side by side utility vehicle for use.

Confirm the activity to be undertaken with supervisor, including identifying safe working areas, potential hazards and implementation of safe working procedures.

Conduct safety pre operational checks on the vehicle and report faults or malfunctions for repair.

Use and maintain personal protective equipment.
-
Attach equipment and loads that do not exceed the weight limitations or change the dynamic stability of the vehicle.

Secure loads and ensure weight does not exceed limits.

Operate side by side utility vehicle and equipment in a safe, efficient and controlled manner.

Operate side by side utility vehicles in accordance with task requirements, conditions and manufacturers operating guidelines.

Assess and minimise potential risks to self, others and the environment.

Ensure that the vehicles seat belts and other safety features are functional and used.

Identify and account for environmental implications associated with machinery operation.

Conduct shut-down procedures according to manufacturer's specifications and enterprise requirements.

Perform routine operational servicing and minor maintenance.
-
Identify and report malfunctions, faults, irregular performance or damage.

Clean, secure and store machinery.
-
Ensure biosecurity procedures are followed where required.

Maintain machinery use records for servicing purposes.

Identify hazards and risks associated with side by side utility vehicle use.
